Haiku Éthéré
slurried clouds float by
sun shafts coaxing me skyward
my body grounded
slurried clouds float by
sun shafts coaxing me skyward
my body grounded
amidst black despair
our minds eye remembrance fogs
light always within
fleeting feathered streaks
milieu awareness unmatched
perching languidly
salacious words born
from the minds of little men
an acrid mouthfeel
radiant sunlight
warming me with happiness
cold long forgotten
twilight fingertips
trace electric down my spine
my eyes closed, breathless
coy dandelions
spring from oil-stained pavement
flowers, forgive us
sunlight optimist
after winters chilled embrace
the kindling of life
my landlord pulls plants
from cracks between concrete steps
spring’s ardent regrowth
this year my friend died
each day a fresh reminder
to live, keep walking
manicured green lawns
relics of regal blue-bloods
our fallow gardens
early blooms wilting
expecting honeybee’s kiss
late bloomers prosper
a collective breath
my heart no longer heavy
seedlings renew me
blossoms effloresce
breathtaking sublime brilliance
we were all seeds once
I like to feed birds
my catharsis, birdseed joy
gratis love given
from inside I stare
at mangled seedlings, trembling
ice shards from sky hell
I, poetaster,
guarantee waggish intent;
facetious, ne’er glib
bare root blueberry
seeds sprout in a verdant stand
from dirt, spring’s promise
lonely plants in pots
portend a somber silence
dry air, stale sunlight
a work of fine art
‘ceci n’est pas une pipe’, huh?
it’s goddamn perfect
wander with me dear
fingers laced in bated breath
burning with passion
falling leaves silence
the dirt comforts my bare soles
this life is lovely
brass bell ensemble
brazen beauty swing stepping
dance with me darling
land of milk and honey
indian paintbrushed meadow
beautiful Utah
the tin man is cold
we walk this yellow brick road
what do you search for
dragonflies hover
lily pads like checkerboards
listen to the fish
grapevine our swingset
coy summer breeze blows on by
your silhouette sings
i am always late
but please, do not fret my friend
i will have doughnuts
rubies in roses
diamond encrusted daisies
gilding the lily
dragonfly madness
turn dive work muddafucka
dancing with grandmas
